Aisha Buhari Reveals Late Husband Believed She Planned to Kill Him
Aisha Buhari: My Husband Believed I Wanted to Kill Him

In a stunning revelation, Aisha Buhari, the wife of Nigeria's immediate past president, has disclosed that her late husband, Muhammadu Buhari, once believed she was plotting to assassinate him.

A Startling Revelation in a New Biography

The former First Lady made this claim in a new 600-page biography titled 'From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari', authored by Dr. Charles Omole. According to Aisha, this belief stemmed from gossip within the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, leading the late president to begin locking his bedroom door.

The book was officially launched at the State House in Abuja on Monday, December 15, 2025. The event was attended by a high-profile gathering, including President Bola Tinubu, state governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and members of the Buhari family, led by Aisha herself.

President Tinubu's Tribute to Buhari's Legacy

Speaking at the launch, President Bola Tinubu delivered a speech extolling the virtues and legacy of the late leader. Tinubu stated that Buhari's name would continue to inspire noble service for future generations.

"The measure of a leader is not based on the office he held or the number of motorcades that accompany him," Tinubu said. He emphasized that President Buhari left behind a reputation of integrity, firmly establishing that public office is a trust and not a windfall.

Nigerians React to the Unveiling

A video of President Tinubu's speech, shared by his Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, quickly sparked reactions from Nigerians online. Many praised the tribute and reflected on Buhari's impact.

Ademola Akanbi commented, "Ameen. What a phenomenal speech, God bless HE PBAT for this great speech on the enduring legacies of HE PMB." Another user, Abdulrasheed, called it "The best PBAT speech I have watched."

Fagba Ayomide Gideo offered a philosophical take, writing, "Leadership is defined by character and service, not titles or fanfare. Buhari’s legacy reminds current and future leaders that integrity, dedication, and selfless service are the true markers of statesmanship."

The biography itself, reported by The Punch newspaper, is a comprehensive work of 22 chapters. It documents Buhari's early life in Daura, Katsina State, all the way to his final moments in a London hospital in July 2025.
