APC Chieftain Lauds Governor Abiodun's Development Achievements in Ogun State
Mr. Giwa Balogun Benjamin, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has publicly praised Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for his visionary and people-focused leadership, which he asserts has dramatically reshaped the state's economic and social fabric. In a recent interview with journalists, Giwa emphasized that Abiodun's administration has consistently prioritized economic advancement, infrastructure renewal, and the overall well-being of residents, solidifying Ogun's status as one of Nigeria's most economically robust states.
Infrastructure and Industrial Expansion
Giwa identified infrastructure development as a cornerstone of the governor's agenda, noting the construction and rehabilitation of more than 1,200 kilometers of roads statewide. He specifically highlighted key projects such as the Igbeba–Ogbogbo–Iworo Road in Ijebu Ode and Ijebu North East, along with major routes like the Agbara–Lusada–Atan Road and the Sagamu–Abeokuta Expressway. According to Giwa, these improvements have significantly enhanced connectivity, facilitating the efficient movement of goods and services and bolstering Ogun's position as a premier industrial hub.
The Agbara-Ota Industrial Estate has emerged as one of Nigeria's largest, hosting numerous multinational corporations and generating thousands of employment opportunities. Giwa further credited the administration with fostering a conducive business environment through strategic initiatives like the Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone and the Remo Economic Development Cluster, which have attracted substantial foreign direct investment and spurred industrial growth.
Economic Validation and Social Initiatives
Citing a recent report by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Giwa revealed that Ogun State accounts for over 70 percent of manufacturing investments in the country, a figure he described as clear validation of Abiodun's effective economic policies. Beyond industrial and infrastructure successes, he applauded the administration's efforts in healthcare and education, including the rehabilitation and staffing of more than 100 primary healthcare centers to improve access to affordable, quality care.
In the education sector, Giwa noted that the government has constructed and renovated over 1,000 classroom blocks and employed more than 4,000 teachers, thereby strengthening the state's educational framework. He also highlighted milestones such as the Gateway International Airport and the establishment of the Ogun State Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency (OgunInvest), with planned international flight operations expected to further boost investment and economic prospects.
Future Prospects and Governance Impact
Giwa concluded by emphasizing that reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business have made Ogun State an increasingly attractive destination for investors, ensuring sustained economic growth and long-term prosperity. He asserted that Abiodun's pragmatic and forward-looking governance approach continues to deliver tangible results, reinforcing public confidence in the administration's vision for a more prosperous Ogun State.
