Atiku Aide Demands DSS Question Sunday Igboho Over Oyo School Kidnapping

Paul Ibe, media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to summon Yoruba nation activist Sunday Igboho for questioning. This follows Igboho's claims that he knows politicians sponsoring kidnappers responsible for the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State.

Ibe's Call for Action

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ibe urged security authorities to act swiftly on Igboho's statements. He stated: "Since Sunday Igboho claims to know those behind the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State, I think that the State Security Service and other security agencies need to invite him to release those names to them." Ibe emphasized that every available option should be explored to ensure the safe release of the abducted school children and teachers.

Background of Igboho's Claims

Sunday Igboho made the allegations during a meeting with members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS). He asserted that certain politicians are backing kidnapping operations in parts of the South-West region. This has intensified calls for a thorough investigation into possible political links to rising insecurity.

Wider Insecurity Concerns

Ibe also highlighted other recent abductions, including reported cases in Borno State, questioning what he described as an uneven government response to insecurity across different regions. He asked: "Why is Tinubu and his government mute over the Borno abduction? Are those school children not Nigerians?" This has sparked broader debate on the government's handling of school kidnappings and security challenges nationwide.

The development has put pressure on security agencies to act decisively, with many Nigerians calling for intelligence-led operations to rescue abducted victims and dismantle criminal networks.
