Destiny is not a straight line. It is filled with hidden dots that only God can see and connect. Dr Tony Evans once said, “You can be walking with God on a highway, and He suddenly makes a bend on you.” These bends are detours—unexplainable delays, lack of a spouse, loss of a job, or betrayal from a child. Romans 8:28 assures believers that “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Biblical Examples of Dot Connection
Joseph’s vision of greatness in Genesis 37:5–10 was interrupted by many dots, delays, and detours. Yet in Genesis 41:9, God connected all the dots, and his destiny made sense. Similarly, Abraham’s promise of a child in Genesis 15:4 faced delays, but Genesis 21:1 shows God connecting the dots. David’s anointing in 1 Samuel 16 was followed by battles and detours, but in 2 Samuel 2:4, his destiny was fulfilled. Ruth, Esther, and even Saul in 1 Samuel 9 experienced God connecting strange dots—Saul’s search for lost donkeys led him to kingship.
The Four Major Dots: Location, Time, Men, and Resources
God works through four main dots: location, time, men, and resources. Each requires discernment, prayer, obedience, and a humble heart.
The Dot of Location
Location is not just geographic. It includes spiritual location (being in Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:17), physical location (Deuteronomy 16:16), marital location, positional location, and calling/career location (Luke 5:10). God sends angels to these coordinates. For instance, Mary had to be in Nazareth (Luke 1:26); Daniel had to be in Babylon; Joseph had to be in Egypt; Paul had to go to Macedonia. Satan also targets your location (Matthew 2:4). To align with God’s location dot: be saved, pray before moving, avoid natural judgments, seek God’s guidance during tough times, and remain humble (1 Samuel 9:5).
Christian professionals testify to this. Dr Ola Brown, a Christian medical doctor, obeyed God’s nudge to relocate temporarily to the UK, which positioned her to build Africa’s first air ambulance service. Dr Chioma Opara, a public health specialist, moved from Lagos to Ottawa, opening doors to global health policy roles. Bishop Dag Heward-Mills discovered his calling while in medical school—a location that birthed a global ministry. Treat relocation as a spiritual transaction: ask God, “Is this my Nazareth or my Egypt?”
The Dot of Time
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” God is the umpire of time (Psalm 31:15). He can delay, add, or pause time. Your times are in His hands, not Satan’s or others’. He uses time to position you. Ayo Akerele, senior pastor of Rhema Assembly and founder of the Voice of the Watchmen Ministries in Ontario, Canada, emphasizes that God connects the dot of time to fulfill His plans.
