Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule Denies Alleged Meeting with Atiku Abubakar in Saudi Arabia
The Nasarawa State Government has issued a strong rebuttal to media reports alleging that Governor Abdullahi Sule engaged in a private discussion with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during a spiritual exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. According to a statement released by the governor's office, these claims are entirely fabricated and have no basis in reality.
Official Statement Dismisses False Reports
In a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary Ibrahim Addra and obtained by correspondents in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, the government described the reports as "a complete fabrication, false in its entirety, and did not happen." The statement emphasized that Governor Sule did not hold any meeting with Atiku Abubakar or his associates while performing the lesser Hajj in Mecca.
The government further clarified that the governor has consistently used various platforms to praise the leadership qualities of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to affirm his unwavering support for the current administration. This denial comes amid speculation about political alignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Reaffirmation of Loyalty to President Tinubu
The statement from Nasarawa State warned against attempts by certain political actors to sabotage the cordial relationship between Governor Sule and President Tinubu. It expressed optimism that such plans would fail, highlighting the governor's commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leadership.
Additionally, the statement noted that Atiku Abubakar's spokesperson, Paul Ibe, has also stated he was unaware of any such meeting, further corroborating the governor's denial. The Nasarawa State Government insisted that APC governors remain fully behind President Tinubu, asserting that no false reports could undermine their loyalty.
This incident underscores the ongoing political dynamics in Nigeria as the 2027 elections approach, with key figures reaffirming their positions and dismissing rumors that could influence public perception.
