Motorists and Residents Applaud Rep Onuakalusi for Ejigbo Road Rehabilitation
Residents of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have expressed overwhelming excitement over the recent rehabilitation of Segun Awolowo Street, a project spearheaded by Okey Joe Onuakalusi, the member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency II. The initiative has been hailed as a significant milestone in grassroots development, addressing long-standing mobility and economic challenges in the community.
Community Voices Praise the Project
A resident, Monday Ogwo, emphasized that the road rehabilitation marks a pivotal achievement for the constituency. He noted that for years, the poor condition of Segun Awolowo Street had severely hindered movements and negatively impacted economic activities in the area, causing frustration among locals.
Kunle Ajao, a motorist, extolled the lawmaker's timely intervention, highlighting the financial burden many drivers faced due to the road's dilapidated state. According to Ajao, numerous motorists had incurred substantial costs from frequent replacement of spare parts, a direct consequence of the rough terrain.
Leadership and Commitment Acknowledged
Peter Adewale, Chairman of the Community Development Association (CDA) in the area, thanked Rep Onuakalusi for consistently keeping his promises to the people. He recalled that residents had endured subpar road conditions for years, feeling neglected despite repeated appeals to previous representatives.
Adewale stated, “Today, he has not only tarred the road but also provided free healthcare for the elderly people in the community.” He further assured that the CDA would take full responsibility for maintaining the road's standard and ensuring proper care of its drainage system to sustain the improvements.
Lawmaker's Perspective and Future Plans
In his remarks, Rep Onuakalusi noted that the road rehabilitation has received massive applause from both residents and community leaders. He traced the project's origins to 2025, when he first intervened in the community's electricity challenges by donating and commissioning a 300 KVA transformer for residents of Segun Awolowo Street.
During that visit, community leaders expressed appreciation and appealed for the tarring of their road, a promise Onuakalusi assured them of and has now fulfilled. He thanked the people for their support in his election and urged the neighborhood to monitor the road and ensure its proper maintenance.
Onuakalusi reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more infrastructure and empowerment initiatives across the constituency. He expressed confidence that continued support from constituents ahead of the 2027 elections would enable him to sustain his development agenda, focusing on further improvements and community welfare.
Endorsements and Political Implications
Chuks Odimegwu, in his remark, stated that no one is surprised by the lawmaker's performance, praising his unique leadership style and readiness to meet the needs of his people. He assured Onuakalusi that the people of Ejigbo and beyond would re-elect him in the 2027 general election, citing the monumental development and infrastructure projects he has implemented in various locations.
This project not only enhances daily life for motorists and residents but also strengthens Onuakalusi's political standing, as community members voice their appreciation and pledge ongoing support for his initiatives.
