Mr Macaroni, Falz Lead Celebrities Demanding Tinubu's Resignation Over Insecurity
Nigerian Celebrities Demand Tinubu Resign Over Insecurity

Several prominent Nigerian figures have intensified pressure on President Bola Tinubu, demanding his immediate resignation over the country's escalating security crisis that has seen increased terrorist attacks and mass kidnappings.

Celebrity Outrage Over Security Failures

Nigerian comedian and activist Mr Macaroni launched a scathing attack on the Tinubu administration, describing the government as "useless and irresponsible" while calling for the president's resignation. The popular content creator expressed outrage over recent security breaches, including the kidnapping of schoolchildren and the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba in Borno state.

In an emotional post on X (formerly Twitter), Mr Macaroni questioned the government's response to these incidents: "This is a very useless and irresponsible government feasting on the blood of innocent Nigerians! As in, I don't understand, school children have been kidnapped, a general killed, and everything is fine???"

The activist, known for his social commentary, emphasized that "in any civilised country, Tinubu should resign!" His statement has sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms, with many Nigerians echoing his frustrations.

Political and Musical Voices Join the Chorus

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party's 2023 presidential candidate, delivered a stark ultimatum to President Tinubu during the National Electoral Reforms Summit 2025. Adebayo demanded that the president either "use bullets to kill the terrorists or use his pen to resign" amid Nigeria's worsening security situation.

The political figure made these remarks at the summit organized by the Labour and Civil Society Front (LCSF) and the National Consultative Front (NCFront), which was convened to discuss constitutional amendments for credible elections in 2027 as part of Nigeria's 65th independence anniversary activities.

Nigerian musician and activist Falz resurrected President Tinubu's own words from 2014 to challenge his current leadership. The artist referenced Tinubu's tweet from November 2014, written seven months after the Chibok girls' abduction, where Tinubu had demanded former President Goodluck Jonathan's resignation over similar security failures.

Falz quoted Tinubu's exact words back to him: "Why should any part of this country be under occupation? In any civilized country, Jonathan should resign." The musician's post came in response to recent kidnappings of 25 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Kebbi state and the killing of General Uba.

Social Media Activists Amplify the Message

Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, joined the growing chorus of voices demanding presidential action. The social media activist suggested that the life imprisonment sentence for IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu served as a distraction from the pressing security issues affecting all Nigerians.

In a video shared on Instagram, Verydarkman argued that "Christians, Muslims, traditionalists, Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa people are all lamenting because insecurity affects everyone." He directly challenged President Tinubu to resign if he cannot secure the release of the abducted Kebbi schoolgirls.

The activist previously made headlines by questioning the effectiveness of the federal government's security measures and making controversial claims about former President Muhammadu Buhari's health status.

These collective voices reflect growing public discontent with the government's handling of security matters, particularly following recent terrorist attacks in Kwara state and multiple kidnapping incidents across the country. The celebrities' statements have ignited nationwide discussions about leadership accountability and the urgent need for improved security measures to protect Nigerian citizens.
