Sunday Igboho Denies Collecting N50bn from FG, Seeks Freedom
Sunday Igboho Denies N50bn FG Payment Allegation

Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has strongly denied allegations that he received a staggering N50 billion from the federal government to abandon his agitation for Yoruba nation.

Video Chat Clarification

The prominent activist made the denial during a live video conversation with Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable. This interaction came after Portable had initially claimed in a viral video that Igboho collected the massive sum from government authorities.

During their video chat, Portable backtracked on his earlier statement, clarifying that he was merely repeating what he had read on various blogs and online platforms.

Plea for Freedom and Security Concerns

The denial comes months after Igboho appealed to the Federal Government to remove his name from its wanted list. The activist made this passionate plea during his visit to the palace of the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Alao, on Tuesday, July 22.

Igboho expressed deep frustration about his inability to move freely within his homeland, emphasizing that he is not a criminal and deserves the right to unrestricted movement in Nigeria.

The activist revealed disturbing security threats he has been facing, stating that unknown persons have been plotting to kill him. "I cannot sleep in my house," Igboho lamented, highlighting the severity of the threats against his life.

Passport Application Revelation

Igboho shared a concerning experience when he attempted to obtain a Nigerian passport at the embassy in Germany. Embassy officials informed him that the Federal Government had written to them indicating he was on the wanted list, preventing him from securing the travel document.

He recounted the incident: "The other time I went to the Nigerian embassy in Germany to obtain a passport, they told me the Federal Government had written to them that I was on the wanted list."

The activist also used the opportunity to decry the alarming security challenges in the Southwest region, calling for urgent government attention to the deteriorating situation.

Royal Support and Reconciliation Efforts

Igboho expressed gratitude to the Olugbon of Orile Igbon for his consistent support throughout his challenges with Nigerian security agencies. He acknowledged that the traditional ruler stood by him during difficult times and assured that he doesn't take this support for granted.

The development occurs amid ongoing tensions between Igboho and Yoruba leader Gani Adams, despite peace-making efforts by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. Both activists have reportedly threatened each other with legal suits, while Adams has denied allegations attributed to him in a viral voice note, claiming his reputation is being tarnished.

Igboho concluded by calling on the government to appoint competent persons to handle security matters in the Southwest region, emphasizing the need for experienced leadership in addressing the area's security challenges.
