President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, on his 60th birthday, praising his leadership style, peace-building efforts, and developmental strides across the state since assuming office.
Presidential Tribute
In a goodwill message released on Thursday, the President described Governor Alia's political rise as a reflection of dedication, faith, and service to humanity, noting that his years as a Catholic priest helped shape the values that have continued to define his public life. Tinubu recalled that Alia, who was ordained into the priesthood in 1990, had long served communities through religious and humanitarian work before venturing into politics and eventually emerging governor of Benue State in 2023.
Leadership and Integrity
The President stated that the people of Benue entrusted Alia with leadership because of the confidence they had in his integrity, compassion, and commitment to service. He commended the governor for initiatives aimed at boosting industrial growth and expanding infrastructure within the state, particularly in agriculture-related industries and road development projects.
Economic and Infrastructure Progress
According to Tinubu, Benue State has witnessed increased investment in processing and manufacturing facilities under Alia's administration, including factories linked to food processing and consumer products, which are contributing to job creation and economic activity in the state. The President also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including urban road improvements and underpass construction in parts of the state, noting that such projects are helping to ease transportation challenges and improve urban mobility.
Education and Health Investments
Tinubu further praised the governor's efforts in the education and health sectors, referencing investments in higher education and improvements at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital. He also acknowledged Alia's peace-building initiatives and attempts to foster political stability and unity within Benue State, describing peace and security as essential foundations for sustainable development.
Call for Continued Reforms
The President encouraged the governor to sustain ongoing reforms and continue prioritising infrastructure development, social welfare programmes, and community-focused policies capable of improving living standards across the state. Joining family members, political associates, and residents of Benue in celebrating the governor's milestone birthday, Tinubu wished Alia continued strength, good health, and wisdom in service to the people and the nation.
