Tinubu Invites Guinea's Leader Doumbouya for State Visit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended an invitation to Guinea's leader, President Mamadi Doumbouya, for a state visit to Nigeria. This follows a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, Rwanda.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the President's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Sunday Dare, during a briefing with journalists after the day's engagements.

The Africa CEO Forum, currently taking place in Kigali, brings together over 2,500 decision-makers for executive dialogues, open debates, and negotiations aimed at advancing shared ownership to achieve scale. This annual summit is recognized as the largest international gathering of the African private sector.

According to Dare, the two leaders discussed prospects for economic cooperation, with particular emphasis on Guinea's vast mineral and metals sector. This sector holds significant opportunities for partnership with Nigeria.

“The President had a fruitful meeting, and you know Guinea is in debt to our president; he got some very good advice. Very soon, on the invitation of President Tinubu, he is likely to visit Nigeria,” Dare said.

Doumbouya, who recently secured victory in Guinea's presidential election with 86.2 percent of the vote, is currently overseeing the country's transition towards civilian democratic governance.

Dare noted that the meeting opened a fresh chapter for bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Guinea, particularly in the area of mining and natural resources.

“Guinea has a lot of potential, metals, minerals, and so on. The opening for partnership between Nigeria and Guinea has been opened. The possibilities are great, and I’m sure we will see that develop in the days and years ahead,” the president's aide added.
