The President departed from Lagos aboard the presidential aircraft at approximately 6:44 pm from the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. His return to Abuja marks the end of several days filled with both official duties and private activities, signaling a resumption of full presidential responsibilities.
Tinubu's arrival in Nigeria occurred in the early hours of Friday after his UK trip, where he engaged in talks aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic, and security ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom. His return coincided with preparations for Eid-el-Fitr, the celebration marking the end of Ramadan, during which he joined Muslim faithful for prayers at Dodan Barracks in Lagos.
Strategic Meetings and Consultations
During his time in Lagos, President Tinubu held numerous political and economic consultations. He met with no fewer than 23 state governors in separate sessions, including Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji. These discussions were characterized by insiders as strategic, focusing on key national and party developments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Among the notable visitors were Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest man, a delegation from the European Union, and members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the apex political decision-making body of the ruling party in the state. Additionally, Vice President Kashim Shettima traveled to Lagos to brief the President on his recent visit to Borno State, particularly following a suicide bombing incident, highlighting ongoing federal efforts to address security challenges in the North-East region.

At the Presidential Wing of the airport, President Tinubu was seen off by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba. Also present were Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his deputy Obafemi Hamzat, along with top government officials and party stalwarts.
