The President departed Lagos aboard the presidential aircraft from the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at approximately 6:44 pm. His return to the nation's capital signals a resumption of full official duties, as his administration continues to navigate pressing economic reforms, address security concerns, and manage political alignments in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
Eid Celebrations and Strategic Meetings
Upon arriving in Nigeria in the early hours of Friday after his UK visit, President Tinubu's return coincided with preparations for Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. In Lagos, he joined Muslim faithful for Eid prayers at Dodan Barracks, reinforcing his long-standing ties to the state where he previously served as governor.
Beyond the religious observance, the President's time in Lagos was marked by a flurry of political and economic consultations. He received no fewer than 23 state governors in separate meetings, including Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji. Insiders described these discussions as strategic, focusing on key national and party developments ahead of the upcoming elections.
High-Profile Visitors and Security Briefings
Among the prominent visitors during his stay was Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, along with a delegation from the European Union and members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the apex political decision-making body of the ruling party in the state. Additionally, Vice President Kashim Shettima traveled to Lagos to brief President Tinubu on his recent visit to Borno State, particularly in the aftermath of a suicide bombing incident. Farewell at the Airport
At the Presidential Wing of the airport to see him off were Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba.
