President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja after spending the Eid-el-Kabir holiday in Lagos, where he conducted a series of political and official engagements. The President's aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 5:17 pm, where he was received by top government officials, including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
Political Meetings in Lagos
During his stay in Lagos, President Tinubu held meetings with Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate leadership led by Godswill Akpabio, and members of the Nigeria Governors' Forum, among other political stakeholders. The discussions focused on national issues and strategic planning.
Navy Fleet Review and Commissioning
The President also attended the International Fleet Review in Lagos, marking the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy. During the event, he commissioned three naval vessels, underscoring the government's commitment to maritime security.
Bilateral Meeting with Benin President
Additionally, President Tinubu hosted the President of the Republic of Benin, Romuald Wadagni, in a meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation. The leaders discussed economic ties and security collaboration.
APC Consultations Ahead of 2027 Elections
According to the State House, the visit also featured All Progressives Congress (APC) political consultations and engagements with party stakeholders. These meetings are part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, focusing on party unity and strategy.
The President's return to Abuja marks the end of a productive holiday period, during which he combined religious observance with critical national duties.
