Timi Frank Slams Tinubu's Silence on Wike-Naval Officer Clash
Tinubu's Silence on Wike-Naval Clash Condemned

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Timi Frank, has strongly criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for maintaining silence regarding the recent public confrontation between Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and a naval officer in Abuja.

The incident, which occurred during a field inspection in Nigeria's capital city, has sparked widespread concern about governance standards and accountability within the current administration.

Frank Condemns Leadership Arrogance

In his statement released on November 13, 2025, Frank described Wike's behavior during the encounter as disgraceful and reflective of deeper governance problems. The former APC spokesman emphasized that the minister's conduct demonstrated arrogance and complete disregard for proper procedures.

Frank stated that Wike has been acting as if the Federal Capital Territory were his personal property since assuming office, consistently showing disrespect for court orders and suppressing opposing voices through intimidation tactics.

Presidential Silence Sends Dangerous Signal

The political activist expressed deep concern about President Tinubu's refusal to address the incident publicly. Frank warned that this silence creates a dangerous perception that certain cabinet members enjoy immunity from accountability.

The President's failure to caution or reprimand Wike has effectively emboldened impunity within the administration, reinforcing the troubling notion that loyalty to the President outweighs loyalty to the nation itself.

Frank, who also serves as the United Liberation Movement for West Papua Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, emphasized that Nigeria stands at a critical moral crossroads where leadership must choose between arrogance and genuine accountability.

Naval Officer's Conduct Praised

In sharp contrast to his criticism of Wike, Frank commended the naval officer involved in the confrontation for displaying remarkable restraint and professionalism under pressure.

The officer's composure during the incident represented the highest ideals of patriotism and military discipline, according to Frank, who suggested the officer deserves national recognition for his conduct.

Frank lamented that the minister's public outburst, combined with presidential silence, has embarrassed Nigeria before the international community, potentially validating negative international perceptions about the country's governance standards.

The former APC official concluded by urging President Tinubu to take immediate action by publicly addressing the incident and reaffirming his administration's commitment to humility and respect for national institutions.
