The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has carried out a significant staff promotion exercise, elevating 523 employees to new ranks. This move is part of the statutory performance reward system for the 2025 promotion cycle.

The promotions, approved by the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Abisoye Coker-Odusote, align with President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, the promotions were strictly based on merit and adherence to the Public Service Rules.

The breakdown of the promotions is as follows:

  • Eight to Deputy Director (GL 16)
  • Thirty-five to Assistant Director (GL 15)
  • Thirty-five to Chief Identity Officer (GL 14)
  • 109 to Assistant Chief Identity Officer (GL 13)
  • 113 to Principal Identity Officer (GL 12)

A Call for Integrity and Diligence

While congratulating the newly promoted staff, Coker-Odusote framed the elevation as a call to greater responsibility. She delivered a stern warning against corrupt practices, emphasizing the Commission's unwavering stance.

"The promotion is an opportunity to serve the country more effectively. I urge all staff to desist from any form of extortion or corrupt practice," the Director-General stated, reinforcing a zero-tolerance policy towards extortion.

Focus on the NIN Mandate and Staff Welfare

Coker-Odusote further charged employees to intensify their efforts in the coming year to ensure the successful implementation of the National Identification Number (NIN) project. She reaffirmed her commitment to staff welfare and the dignity of labour, noting that the Commission's critical national mandate demands the highest levels of diligence and integrity from all personnel.

This promotion exercise, occurring during a period of renewed focus on robust national identity management, is expected to bolster the Commission's operational capacity and morale as it prepares to deliver on its expanded responsibilities in 2026.
