The Oyo State Government has officially announced the date for a crucial career advancement examination for its junior civil servants. The 2025 conversion exercise is scheduled to take place on Friday, December 19, 2025.
Exam Details and Venue
Professor Salihu Adelabu, the State Commissioner for Establishments and Training, made the disclosure in Ibadan. He stated that the examination will be conducted at the Simeon Adebo Staff Development Centre, located within the Secretariat complex in Ibadan. The commissioner revealed that over 250 junior officers across the state's public service are anticipated to participate in this important exercise.
Eligibility and Strict Guidelines
The exam is open to clerical and allied staff who have successfully applied for conversion. Prof. Adelabu listed the eligible personnel to include:
- Clerical Assistants
- Clerical Officers
- Stores Attendants and Keepers
- Judiciary staff
- Other allied personnel in ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs)
He issued a stern warning, noting that examination slips will only be given to candidates who correctly submitted their application forms on or before Monday, December 15, 2025. Any applicant who fails to meet this and other stipulated requirements will be barred from sitting for the test.
Mandatory Attendance and Conduct
The commissioner emphasized that attendance is compulsory for all registered candidates. He added a critical rule: any candidate who fails to properly sign the official attendance register will not be recognized as having taken part in the examination.
Adelabu urged all participants to arrive at the venue early and to conduct themselves in an orderly manner. This, he said, is essential to ensure the entire process is smooth and free of any hitches.
According to the commissioner, this conversion examination is a key component of the state government's broader strategy to improve career progression, enhance professionalism, and boost overall efficiency within the Oyo State Civil Service.
LAUTECH Iseyin Campus Students Voice Academic Crisis
In a separate development, students from the Iseyin Campus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) have issued a fresh alarm over a deepening academic crisis. Under the banner of Concerned Students of LAUTECH, Iseyin Campus, they accuse both the Oyo State Government and the university management of playing politics with their education.
In a petition, the students detailed administrative failures, poor infrastructure, and inadequate academic conditions at the campus, which was established a few years ago as part of the university's expansion. Students, particularly those relocated from the Faculty of Agriculture at the main Ogbomoso campus, describe the move as a nightmare.
They lament the absence of basic facilities required for agricultural training, such as livestock and poultry units. The students claim that since their relocation in 200 Level, no practical sessions have been held, despite paying levies for a mandatory "Farm Practice Year." They expressed frustration at being trained only in theory, lacking the practical exposure vital for their profession.
