Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has extended warm congratulations to His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, marking two decades since his ascension to the throne.
A Royal Milestone Celebrated
Governor Abiodun praised the monarch's 20-year reign that began on November 19, 2005, describing it as a period of purposeful and visionary leadership that has significantly benefited Egbaland and Ogun State. The governor emphasized that Oba Gbadebo, as the 10th Alake of Egbaland, has demonstrated exceptional commitment to peace, cultural preservation, and socio-economic advancement throughout his rule.
In his official statement, Governor Abiodun declared: "I join the government and good people of Ogun State in congratulating His Royal Majesty on this momentous occasion. Kabiyesi has continued to exemplify wisdom, dignity, and an unwavering commitment to the peace, unity, and development of Egbaland and Ogun State at large."
Infrastructure Development Initiatives
In related development news, the Ogun State Executive Council has approved significant infrastructure projects during its first meeting at the newly commissioned Exco Chamber in the Governor's Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta. The council, presided over by Governor Abiodun, gave the green light for multiple road construction projects and housing developments across the state.
The approved road projects include:
- Miliki Junction – Bode Olude – Alhaji Sugar Avenue in Abeokuta North Local Government (1.05km length, 10.0m average width)
- Paddy Arikawe Road, G.R.A. Sagamu in Sagamu Local Government Area (3.39km length, 9m average width)
- Itanrin-Sabo Road in Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu Local Government Area (5.0km length, 10m width)
Housing and Traditional Council Matters
The infrastructure approval also encompasses the construction of 26 new duplexes within the Ogun State Housing Corporation Office in Ibara, Abeokuta. The housing project will consist of 12 five-bedroom detached duplexes with two-room attached boys' quarters, and 14 four-bedroom semi-detached duplexes with one-room attached boys' quarters.
Additionally, the council ratified the declaration of traditional councils established for the appointment of traditional rulers in the state, reinforcing the government's commitment to working alongside traditional institutions.
Governor Abiodun concluded his anniversary message with prayers for the monarch's continued health and wisdom, stating: "We pray that the Almighty will continue to grant the Alake sound health, long life, and greater wisdom to continue his noble service to Egbaland, Ogun State, and Nigeria."
