Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has firmly restated his administration's dedication to constructing quality infrastructure designed to endure for generations. The governor made this declaration while unveiling the newly remodeled Executive Council Chambers in Abeokuta.
Revitalizing State Assets
During the ceremony, which was attended by former governor Olusegun Osoba, Governor Abiodun expressed his dismay at the previous condition of the chambers, describing the edifice before its renovation as being in a state of total decay and an embarrassment. He explained that his government deliberately chose to remodel the existing structure instead of constructing a new Governor's Office.
Investors will not be in doubt of our seriousness when they see new things in the state, the governor stated, highlighting the strategic thinking behind the decision. The newly transformed chambers are now outfitted with modern, hi-tech facilities to enhance governance. These upgrades include:
- A state-of-the-art public address system
- Individual monitors for displaying meeting agendas and deliberations
- Three large television screens for live discussions
- Modern executive chairs and enhanced lighting
Broader Regeneration and Development Agenda
Governor Abiodun positioned this project as a key component of his administration's wider regeneration agenda. This initiative also includes giving a facelift to major landmarks like the Ibara Government Reservation Area (GRA). He emphasized that these efforts are in perfect alignment with the state's Urban Renewal Programme, which aims to deliver good governance and create a fertile environment for sustainable, long-term development.
Beyond infrastructure, the governor pointed to significant progress in other critical sectors under his ISEYA mantra—encompassing Infrastructure, Security, Education, Youth Empowerment, and Agriculture. He commended the State Executive Council members for their ideas and dedication, which he noted were instrumental in achieving these milestones.
Focus on Road Infrastructure: The Akute-Ijoko Project
Shifting focus to a crucial transportation project, Governor Abiodun provided a firm assurance that the construction of the 20-kilometre Akute–Ijoko Road in Ifo Local Council will soon be completed. He gave this assurance while inspecting the ongoing work on the first phase, a 9.7-kilometre stretch, shortly after commissioning the nearby Akute–Ajuwon–Alagbole Road.
The governor outlined the scale of the project, noting that it involves building a 20-kilometre dual carriageway, which effectively translates to 40 kilometres of road when including both directions, complete with drainage systems. He confirmed that the project is being executed in phases as part of a carefully structured implementation plan designed by his administration.
By His grace, we will finish this road, Governor Abiodun vowed, expressing strong determination to see the project through to its conclusion for the benefit of the residents.
In his remarks, former Governor Olusegun Osoba applauded the current administration for the visible transformation happening across Ogun State. He expressed particular delight at the new look of the Ibara GRA and praised the world-class standard of the new Executive Council Chambers, stating it is comparable to any such facility globally.
