Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has issued a strong reassurance to residents, urging them not to panic despite increasing banditry activities in neighboring states. The governor emphasized that comprehensive security measures are already in place to protect the state from potential infiltrations.
Proactive Security Measures Implemented
In a statement released on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, through his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke revealed that security agencies have been implementing a detailed action plan for the past three weeks to secure Osun State. The governor confirmed that multiple security meetings have been conducted with stakeholders across border communities to enhance vigilance and strengthen response capabilities.
The Commissioner of Police, Director of State Security (DSS), Army Commander, and Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have all been actively involved in these security preparations. Governor Adeleke specifically praised the DSS for their successful operations in arresting high-profile terrorists and dismantling their cells within Osun State.
Collaborative Security Efforts
The governor highlighted that security deployment is currently ongoing in strategic areas of concern across the state. He directed the Amotekun security service to work closely with the police and other security agencies, emphasizing that local security services must operate within established protocols to effectively protect residents from bandits and terrorists.
"Our local vigilantes, local hunter groups, and the Amotekun security services are to work closely with the police to strengthen the safety and protection of our people," Governor Adeleke stated. He urged residents to remain security conscious and immediately report any strange movements or suspicious activities to the authorities.
Governance Continues Uninterrupted
While addressing security concerns, Governor Adeleke also provided updates on other state matters. Regarding the local government situation, he noted that all stakeholders are awaiting the Supreme Court's ruling and emphasized the importance of remaining law-abiding.
On the judiciary impasse, the governor expressed confidence that the judiciary would resolve its internal affairs independently, affirming that his administration would not interfere in judicial matters. He assured citizens that good governance continues without hitches, citing recent successes in digital economy initiatives, economic empowerment programs, workers' welfare improvements, and infrastructure upgrades across various towns in the state.
