Akande Praises Aiyedatiwa's $50bn Investment Drive in Ondo
Akande hails Aiyedatiwa on Ondo development

Chief Bisi Akande, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has publicly commended Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for what he described as groundbreaking achievements that are reshaping the state's economic landscape.

The endorsement came during the recently concluded South-West summit held in Akure, where Akande highlighted the governor's transformative impact across key sectors of Ondo State's economy.

Transforming Ondo's Economic Identity

Akande noted that under Aiyedatiwa's leadership, Ondo State is gradually shedding its long-held status as a purely civil service environment and evolving into a competitive industrial hub. The APC chieftain emphasized that the governor has successfully redefined the state's development trajectory through strategic initiatives and massive investments.

Among the landmark projects highlighted was the $50 billion investment by Backbone Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (BINL) and Sunshine Infrastructure Joint Venture. This massive investment package includes establishing a 500,000-barrels-per-day refinery, a 1,471-hectare Free Trade Zone in Ilaje, and a large-scale egg production project in Owo.

Job Creation and Economic Growth

According to Akande, these investments represent a significant turning point for job creation, economic growth, and energy independence in Ondo State. The scale of these projects is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities while positioning the state as a major player in Nigeria's industrial sector.

The former APC chairman particularly praised the governor's leadership style, describing him as a father figure and a unifying force within the party. He emphasized Aiyedatiwa's ability to bring together diverse talents and perspectives to drive development forward.

Inclusive Governance Approach

Akande also lauded the governor's inclusive governance approach, which has brought technocrats and seasoned professionals into government positions. Notable appointments mentioned include Dr Taiwo Fasoranti as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and veteran journalist Idowu Ajanaku as Commissioner for Information and Orientation.

The APC leader further highlighted that the governor has given young people significant roles in his administration, with Segun Omoyefunmi serving as Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, alongside numerous other youthful aides and senior assistants across various ministries and agencies.

Akande concluded by urging residents of Ondo State, party stakeholders, and all well-meaning Nigerians to continue supporting Governor Aiyedatiwa as he works toward achieving greater milestones under his development-focused agenda.
