Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has dismissed six commissioners from his cabinet in a strategic reshuffle announced after the fifth State Executive Council meeting of 2026, held at the Government House in Lafia. The decision, confirmed on Wednesday, July 22, by the Secretary to the State Government, Shuaibu Magaji (SAN), is aimed at repositioning the administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Six Ministries Affected by the Reshuffle
Magaji told journalists that the governor approved the removal of commissioners from six ministries: Security and Sundry Matters; Women Affairs and Social Development; Works, Transport and Housing; Science and Technology; Information, Culture and Tourism; and Lands and Survey. He thanked the outgoing officials for their service, noting that Governor Sule personally acknowledged their contributions during the council session.

Addressing speculation of a broader cabinet shake-up, Governor Sule clarified that the exercise was a limited reshuffle involving select strategic changes. He emphasized that the move was intended to strengthen governance and improve service delivery as his administration enters its final stretch before the 2027 polls. The governor also praised the executive council for their dedication to Nasarawa's development and congratulated the Nasarawa Amazons Football Club for winning the 2026 President Federation Cup.
