Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has officially enacted the state's 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, approving a financial plan exceeding one trillion naira.

The signing event took place on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, within the council chamber of the Government House in Minna. The final budget amount passed and assented to by the governor stands at over N1,073 trillion. This figure represents an upward revision from the initial estimate of more than N1.031 trillion that Governor Bago had earlier presented to the legislative house.
A breakdown of the massive budget reveals a strong emphasis on development projects. Capital Expenditure is allocated a substantial over N783 billion, while Recurrent Expenditure is set at over N290 billion.

During the ceremony, Governor Bago expressed profound appreciation for the 10th Niger State House of Assembly. He lauded the lawmakers for their dedication, working tirelessly to ensure the timely passage of the budget estimates. The governor awarded the Assembly a perfect score, stating that the speed and cooperation demonstrated were unprecedented and exemplified the beauty of democratic governance.
Bago also singled out Hajiya Aishat Teni Usman, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Planning, for special recognition. He applauded her and her entire team for their unwavering commitment and meticulous efforts in the budget planning process.

Earlier, the Speaker of the 10th State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, reciprocated the positive sentiments. He praised Governor Bago and his executive team for preparing a budget proposal he described as "the best," noting its clarity and ease of scrutiny. Sarkin Daji highlighted the maximum cooperation received from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), which made the screening process smooth and efficient.
The Speaker commended the governor's hard work and perseverance in steering the state towards good governance. He reassured the Executive of the Assembly's continued synergy and partnership in the collective mission to make Niger State better for all its residents.
