Oyo Governor Makinde Sacks Commissioner, Announces Cabinet Reshuffle

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, resulting in the redeployment of a commissioner and the withdrawal of another appointment. The changes, effective July 1, 2026, include the removal of Commissioner Toyin Balogun from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, with Alhaja Faosat Joke Sanni taking over the portfolio.

Governor Makinde expressed gratitude to Toyin Balogun for her contributions to the state's development and wished her success in future endeavors, according to Vanguard. Sanni, who previously served as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion from 2019 to 2023, returns to the ministry after stints at the Ministry of Special Duties and the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperative. She is expected to resume immediately.

The reshuffle is part of the governor's ongoing efforts to strengthen administrative operations. A statement from the Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, confirmed the appointments take effect from July 1, 2026.

New Commissioner Nominee and Other Appointments

Governor Makinde has forwarded the name of Dr Olabode Taiwo Ladipo, Permanent Secretary of General Administration, to the Oyo State House of Assembly for consideration as a commissioner nominee. Additionally, Arc. Ifeoluwa Akande was appointed Chairman of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport Upgrade Committee, while Honourable Isola Abiodun Adekunle was named Executive Adviser on Intra-Party Affairs. Hon. Oladejo Emmanuel Oladokun was also appointed as a Part-Time Member of the Local Government Service Commission, as reported by The Guardian.

Makinde congratulated the appointees and urged them to carry out their responsibilities with dedication, loyalty, and commitment to the people of Oyo State.
