The administration of Governor Dauda Lawal in Zamfara State is on the verge of completing a major infrastructural overhaul, with the renovated JB Yakubu Secretariat Complex scheduled for full delivery in February 2026.
Final Phase Nears Completion
During a recent inspection visit, the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, confirmed that the final phase of the project is progressing as planned. The work on Block C of the complex, handled by the contractor Sources Plus Nigeria Limited, is now fully complete in terms of renovation. The only remaining task is the installation of office furniture, which is expected to be finished within the next few weeks.
Nakwada expressed his satisfaction with the quality of work done so far. He urged the contractor to promptly address some minor observations to ensure the final output meets the high standards set by the state government. The SSG expressed confidence that the February 2026 timeline for the project's completion and handover is achievable.
A Modern Workspace for Enhanced Service Delivery
This final phase follows the successful commissioning of the first two phases of the project, which involved Blocks A and B. Those blocks are already in full use by state civil servants. A key feature of the renovated complex is the provision of solar power and Wi-Fi connectivity, designed to create a modern and efficient working environment.
For approximately 30 years, the JB Yakubu Secretariat, which houses numerous Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), had suffered from neglect without any significant renovation. The Lawal administration identified the poor state of public office infrastructure as a barrier to productivity and has made its modernization a key priority.
Governor Lawal's Infrastructure Focus
The comprehensive renovation, furnishing, and equipping of the secretariat complex underscore Governor Dauda Lawal's commitment to improving the working conditions of the state's workforce. The government recognizes that a conducive and well-equipped environment is essential for enhancing productivity and, ultimately, the quality of service delivery to the people of Zamfara State.
With the completion of Block C, the entire secretariat complex will be fully modernized, marking a significant departure from its previous dilapidated state and signaling a new era of administrative efficiency in the state.
