A nursing student from Kwara State has shared a chilling account of a deadly bandit attack that unfolded right outside her church, leaving multiple people dead and sending shockwaves through the community.
The Day Everything Changed
The student, who attends Kwara College of Nursing in Oke Ode, revealed that she first received information about bandits being in their community on the evening of September 27. She immediately alerted her fellow students by sharing the warning on their school platform.
Speaking through a viral TikTok video posted from her account @quinnabiola, she described assuming the situation had calmed down by the next day, which was a Sunday. She proceeded with her normal routine and headed to church, completely unprepared for the tragedy about to unfold.
Gunshots at Church Entrance
"At 7:45 on this day, I was already in church. Less than 20 minutes after my arrival, we started hearing gunshots," she recounted in her emotional testimony.
The student explained that her church is situated at the entrance of the developing community, making it a particularly vulnerable location. She could clearly see that the shooting was happening directly in front of their place of worship.
The congregation quickly shut all the doors for protection, though the generators at the front of the church remained running, potentially drawing attention to their location.
Discovering the Aftermath
The terrifying gunfire continued for approximately an hour before finally subsiding. When the shooting stopped, the student, along with her pastor and his family, cautiously ventured outside.
What they discovered was horrifying. "On stepping out, I sighted 2 dead bodies on the main road," she shared. "I continued walking the pathway when I then sighted another dead body on the walkway to my church."
The traumatic experience forced her and other students to be transported away from the school area to their various homes for safety. The incident has raised serious concerns about security in the region, particularly as many commenters noted the attack received little media coverage.
In her reflection on the shocking events, the nursing student captured the suddenness of the violence: "Isn't life just crazy because one minute you're in class, reading in preparation for your final exams, next minute you're running and trying to escape death because you're in Nigeria."
