Abuja traffic robber arrested by FCT police during patrol

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a suspected traffic robber, Yahuza Sani, who had been terrorising motorists in Abuja. The arrest took place on Saturday, June 21, during a routine anti-crime patrol by operatives attached to the Central Police Station (CPS) near the National Hospital, Abuja.

Arrest details and recovery of items

According to the command's spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrest occurred at approximately 7pm when undercover police operatives intercepted the suspect while he was allegedly attempting to rob a female victim of her valuables. The operatives had been strategically deployed to the area following reports of increasing traffic robberies targeting unsuspecting motorists and commuters.

“A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of three mobile phones, one dagger and one motorcycle used in the commission of the crime,” she stated. The recovered items included three mobile phones, a dagger, and a motorcycle allegedly used in criminal operations around Abuja.

Suspect in custody, accomplice at large

SP Adeh disclosed that one suspected accomplice managed to escape during the operation and remained at large at press time. She added that efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect. The arrested suspect is currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
