A member of staff at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, Frank Omorojie, has been commended for returning a lost purse containing cash and important travel documents to its owner. The incident took place at the departure hall of Terminal 2 on Wednesday, April 29.

Discovery at Rwanda Air Check-in Area

Omorojie discovered the misplaced item at the Rwanda Air check-in area. The purse contained $1,700 in cash, a Nigerian passport, a British passport, and a credit card. Without hesitation, he reported the recovered item to Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel.

Standard Procedures Followed

Following standard airport procedures, the recovered belongings were properly documented and transferred to the Customer Service unit. The unit quickly made a public announcement to locate the owner.

A Nigerian passenger who was scheduled to travel to Kigali, Rwanda, and had already feared the items were lost permanently, was soon reunited with all her belongings intact. She expressed immense gratitude for the honesty displayed by the staff member.

Airport Officials Commend Honesty

Airport officials commended Omorojie, describing the incident as a clear demonstration of professionalism and integrity. They noted that such actions reinforce public confidence in airport operations and staff conduct.

Speaking briefly, Omorojie said his decision was guided by simple principles of honesty. “I just did what was right,” he said.
