Bauchi Police Arrest Four Over Alleged Wife-Swapping

The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended four men in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area, on allegations of criminal conspiracy, adultery, and inciting public disturbance. The suspects were brought to the Azare Division by the Zonal Commander of Hisbah, Katagum Zone, Mallam Rilwan Khairan.

The arrested individuals are Bashir Adamu of Comprehensive Area, Auwalu Mohammed of Gadum Area, Mohammed Mohammed of Sabuwar NEPA Area, and Salisu Mohammed of the same locality. According to authorities, the men allegedly entered into an agreement to exchange their wives for sexual intercourse, an act that could lead to public disorder.

The Zonal Commander of Hisbah, Khairan, confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects are linked to a group known as the Wuddadu group. He explained that the suspects allegedly exchanged their wives under the guise of temporary marriages, which violates Islamic teachings and societal values. Khairan noted that the arrests followed complaints from residents and information provided by insiders within the group.

The Hisbah enforcement unit, popularly called “Operation Ko Ba Kobo,” conducted a raid on the group’s hideout in Azare, leading to the apprehension of the suspects. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
