The victim, identified as Onyedika Okpala, was reportedly attacked with machetes by two of his brothers, Okwudili Okpala and Chigbo Okpala. The attack occurred during a heated argument over property and inheritance rights, escalating into a deadly confrontation.

A family source revealed that the suspects inflicted severe injuries on the victim's head, causing him to bleed profusely and collapse unconscious at the scene. The victim's sister promptly reported the incident to the police, leading to the immediate dispatch of a team of operatives to the area. The victim was quickly evacuated to the General Hospital in Ekwulobia for medical attention.
