A Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State, has granted permission for the publication of a winding-up petition filed against Monimichelle Sports Facilities Construction Limited over an alleged unpaid debt owed to former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Amaju Pinnick.
Details of the Alleged Debt
Pinnick claimed he loaned the company $100,000 and N5 million in 2023 to support a FIFA-funded mini stadium project in Ugborodo, Delta State. The funds were allegedly requested by the firm's Chief Executive Officer, Ebi Ezekiel Egbe, for financial assistance to complete the project.
According to court documents, the company signed an agreement acknowledging receipt of the funds and promising repayment. However, despite repeated demands, the company allegedly failed to repay the debt.
Court Ruling
Justice A. Nganjiwa dismissed the company's application to stop the publication of the petition. The judge granted Pinnick leave to advertise the winding-up proceedings, clearing the way for the public notice to be issued.
Pinnick is asking the court to wind up the company on the grounds that it is allegedly unable to pay its debts. The case highlights the legal steps creditors can take when debts remain unpaid.
