Court Remands 3 Rehab Staff Over Patient Murder in Kano

A Kano State High Court, sitting at Court No. 27, Metropolitan, has ordered the remand of three employees of a rehabilitation centre in Kiru for their alleged involvement in the murder of a patient.

Arraignment and Charges

The defendants, Yasir Yusuf, Nura Abdullahi, and Bashir Sa’ad, were brought before the court by the prosecution counsel, Saima Garba. They face charges of conspiracy and culpable homicide, which contravene Sections 97 and 221 of the Penal Code.

Prosecution's Allegations

The prosecution alleged that the accused conspired and used excessive force on a man who had been admitted to the centre by his parents due to suspected illicit drug use. Garba informed the court that the victim reportedly slipped into a coma after being beaten by the defendants. He was later taken to a government hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
