Davido Denies City Boy Membership, Calls Out Insecurity
Davido Denies City Boy Group, Slams Insecurity

Nigerian singer David “Davido” Adeleke has publicly distanced himself from the City Boy Movement (CBM), a youth support group established in 2022 to back President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 election campaign. Despite his close friend Cubana Chief Priest being a prominent CBM member, Davido clarified his position on X (formerly Twitter) after a user challenged him.

Davido’s Response to Criticism

The “Unavailable” singer responded to Princess Luna (@princessluna237), who accused him of performative activism. Davido wrote: “I am not part of any City Boy group. When I called out the government on American media, you guys rained curses on me. I’ve been friends with ST (Seyi Tinubu) for years, and that’s where it stops, and I call and complain to him all the time, even in person. God punish your generation.”

Concern Over Insecurity

Davido expressed deep concern over the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State, calling it a “mess.” He urged entertainers to speak up against injustice, saying: “We need to speak up; there’s too much injustice. Our country is gone.”

The abduction involved about 32 people from schools in Oriire Local Government Area, with a teacher beheaded. The victims remain in captivity, sparking widespread condemnation.
