According to Comrade Israel Joe, the suspect allegedly sexually abused the minor on multiple occasions while threatening to harm her if she disclosed the assaults to anyone. The activist revealed that the victim's father, who is the landlord, is currently suffering from a stroke-like illness, creating a vulnerable situation that the tenant reportedly exploited.
"His landlord is down with a stroke-like illness and this Amunike tenant Ugbome Ifeanyi Thompson allegedly defiled the landlord's 8-year-old daughter and started sleeping with her almost every time while threatening her not to talk," Comrade Joe wrote in his social media post.
Police Response and Investigation
The suspect has been detained at the Orerokpe police station following his arrest. Comrade Joe confirmed that he has contacted the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Paul, regarding the case. The suspect is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Delta State Police Command for further investigation and potential prosecution.
