Court sends DJ Chicken to Kirikiri over death threat against Seyi Tinubu
DJ Chicken remanded in Kirikiri over death threat to Seyi Tinubu

A Lagos State Magistrate Court in Ogba has ordered the remand of controversial internet personality Ademola Abiodun, widely known as DJ Chicken, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre following allegations that he issued a death threat against Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu. The ruling was delivered on July 10 by Magistrate M.F. Onamusi, who presided over the case.

Charges and Allegations

DJ Chicken faces a three-count charge that includes alleged threat to kill, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and violations under the Cybercrime Act. According to the prosecution, the charges stem from a video the defendant posted online in which he allegedly threatened Seyi Tinubu while commenting on the 2027 presidential election.

The prosecution argued that the video contained statements that could be interpreted as a threat to kill Seyi Tinubu, which contravenes provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State and the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act of 2015.

The court stipulated that one surety must be a government employee, while the other must be a recognized community leader who owns landed property in Lagos State.

Both sureties are required to provide evidence of three years' tax clearance, a Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) identification card, a National Identification Number (NIN), and recent utility bills. Additionally, one of the sureties must be a blood relative of the defendant.

Remand and Next Hearing

Until the bail conditions are met, the magistrate ordered that DJ Chicken be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre. The case has been adjourned to August 3, 2026, for further proceedings.
