The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old driver, Adesola Ogunrotifa, who absconded with his employer's Hyundai saloon car in Akure and was tracked to Abuja. The command's spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, July 9, 2026, stating that detectives tracked the suspect to the Federal Capital Territory, arrested him, and recovered the stolen vehicle intact.
Complaint and Investigation
The arrest followed a complaint filed by one Mrs. Remilekun of Oba-Ile, Akure. She reported that she had employed Ogunrotifa as her personal driver in July 2025. According to her account, on Sunday, July 5, 2026, the suspect drove her to the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, Akure, for a church service. After dropping her off at the church premises, he abandoned her and unlawfully drove away with her Hyundai saloon car, purportedly heading towards Abuja.

Acting on credible intelligence and deploying strategic investigative techniques, a team of detectives from B-Division Akure painstakingly tracked the suspect to Abuja, where he was successfully apprehended. The stolen vehicle was recovered without damage.
