Men of the Edo State Police Command have apprehended a suspected kidnapper, 18-year-old Mohammed Zaradeen Saleh, inside a forest along the Ewu-Auchi road on Sunday, May 17. The arrest was made following a swift operation by operatives of Police Mobile Force Base 82, Uromi, who acted on credible intelligence from a concerned citizen regarding suspicious movements of suspected kidnappers in the area.
Operation Details
According to a statement released by the command, the suspects attempted to flee upon sighting the police. A hot chase ensued, resulting in the capture of one suspect while three others managed to escape. Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested individual belongs to a kidnapping syndicate. During interrogation, the suspect confessed that two of the fleeing members, identified as Musa Shedau and Abdulmumini, are in possession of firearms.
Command Spokesperson Confirms
The command's spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoede, confirmed the arrest to newsmen. She stated that efforts are currently underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover their weapons. The police are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that all members of the syndicate are brought to justice.
