Good governance activists Peter Akah, popularly known as Randy Peter, and Precious Oruche, known as Mama Pee, were invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, to answer questions regarding allegations of Naira abuse.
Invitation and Response
The activists received separate invitation letters dated June 24, 2026, summoning them to the EFCC headquarters. In response, they honored the invitation on July 15, accompanied by their lawyer, Inibehe Effiong.
According to Effiong, the activists met with investigators, cooperated fully with the commission, and were subsequently released. They are scheduled to return to the EFCC on Thursday, July 16, for further investigation.
Interrogation Details
Effiong stated that during the interrogation, EFCC operatives acted professionally. Both Mama Pee and Randy Peter clarified that the items referenced in the allegations were prop money used for entertainment purposes, not actual Naira notes.
The case has drawn attention due to the activists' prominent roles in advocating for good governance in Nigeria. The EFCC has been actively enforcing laws against Naira abuse, which includes spraying, mutilating, or otherwise mishandling the currency.
As of now, no charges have been filed, and the investigation continues.
