Fake Bandit Attack Alarm: Man Wanted TikTok Followers

A young man identified as Qawiyu has been arrested by the police in Ogun state for raising a false alarm about a bandit attack. In a confession video now circulating on social media, the suspect stated that his motive was to gain new followers on his TikTok account.

Speaking from police custody, Qawiyu said, 'I raised a fake bandits attack just to gain TikTok followers. Please forgive me. My Ileya customers’ clothes are still in my shop.'

When questioned about the Fulani herdsman featured in his video, the suspect explained, 'The Fulani herdsman used to move with his cows in the area behind my shop. I asked him to feature in the video so that I could get content. He initially refused but I insisted. I told my apprentice to do the recording. I did it because I saw people doing it to gain followers.'
