Gunmen attacked an off-campus lodge near Nasarawa State University in Keffi on Wednesday night, abducting six students and one visitor. The incident occurred in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Police Confirm Abduction
The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the attack in a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer Ramhan Nansel. According to the statement, armed attackers stormed the students' lodge at approximately 9:00 p.m. on May 6, 2026, in Anguwar Ninzo, on the outskirts of Gudi town. The assailants forcibly took the victims to an undisclosed location.
Victims Identified
The six identified victims are all students of the Faculty of Engineering at the university's Gudi Campus. The seventh victim was a visitor who was at the lodge at the time of the attack.
Security Response
Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment. He assured students, residents, and the university community of the command's commitment to securing the safe rescue of the abducted victims.
CP Mohammed stated, “A joint security team comprising the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, vigilante groups and other tactical units has also been deployed to track down the abductors and bring them to justice.”
The joint security force is actively pursuing the kidnappers to ensure the victims' safe return and to apprehend those responsible for the crime.
