Handcuffed Woman Makes Daring Escape from Police Car in Michigan
In a startling incident captured on video, a handcuffed woman managed to escape police custody by wriggling out of the open window of a patrol car in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. The escape occurred on Saturday, March 28, and the woman remains at large as of late Monday afternoon, March 30, according to police reports.
Arrest and Identification Process
The woman, who has not been publicly identified, was initially arrested for violating her parole. Police officers discovered a vehicle parked at an abandoned business and approached it. While they identified the driver, they could not immediately identify the female passenger. Using a fingerprint scanner, officers confirmed her identity and discovered the outstanding parole violation, leading to her being handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle.
The Viral Escape Video
A live video posted on social media shows the woman, dressed in all-black clothes, looking out of the half-rolled-down rear seat window. She appears to scan the area for nearby officers before making her move. With her hands cuffed behind her back, she wriggles out of the window headfirst, lowers her leg to the ground, and hops onto the street, fleeing the scene unnoticed by the police.
The video then pans to officers who are seen searching a white pickup truck beside two police cars. An officer later taps on the rear window of the patrol car, only to find that the arrestee had escaped, sparking a frantic search in the area.
Aftermath and Additional Charges
Following her escape, a resident reported an attempted home invasion around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday night, less than an hour after the woman fled. Police believe she is a suspect in this incident. As a result, she now faces additional charges, including fleeing a police officer and felony home invasion, on top of the original parole violation.
