A Magistrate Court sitting in Rano, Kano State, has ordered that one Kabir Mu'azu Gwarzo be remanded in a correctional facility for the alleged murder of his wife, Maryam Isa, for ritual purposes.
Re-arraignment in Court
The defendant was re-arraigned before the court by the Kano State Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Abdulkarim Kabir Maude, on a charge of culpable homicide, which contravenes Section 221 of the Penal Code.
Prosecution's Case
During the proceedings, the prosecution informed the court that the alleged offence occurred in Gwarzo village. The accused is said to have killed his wife and removed parts of her body for ritual purposes.
Witness Testimonies
The state counsel presented three witnesses — Abubakar Alkasim, Shehu Hasan, and Yau Kabir — who testified in support of the charge against the defendant.
Court Order
Presiding judge, Justice Halima Nasir, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre pending further hearing. The case has been adjourned until June 19 for continuation of proceedings.
