Shocking Video Emerges from Kano Family Massacre Scene

A chilling video has surfaced showing the prime suspect in the brutal murder of a housewife and her six children in Kano State. The footage, shared by Kano newscaster Sadiya Yahaya Isah, captures Umar Auwalu during the evacuation of bodies from the crime scene, where he is seen carrying one of the corpses.

Details of the Heinous Crime

According to police reports, Umar Auwalu, a nephew of the slain housewife Fatima Abubakar, masterminded the attack that claimed seven lives. The victims included Fatima and her children: Maimuna Haruna, Aisha Haruna, Bashir Haruna, Abubakar Haruna, Faruk Haruna, and Abdulsalam Haruna. The gruesome incident occurred inside their residence last Saturday, with two of the children, including a newborn, later discovered in a nearby well.

Police Investigation and Arrests

The State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed that arrests were made following intelligence-led operations conducted between the night of January 17 and early hours of January 18. The operations were supervised by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori. During interrogation, the principal suspect confessed to orchestrating the attack and revealed that the same syndicate has been involved in multiple violent attacks and killings across Kano metropolis.

Evidence Recovered from Suspects

Police recovered several items from the suspects, including:

  • Clothes with suspected blood stains
  • Mobile phones belonging to the deceased mother
  • A cutlass and a club used in the attack
  • Money allegedly stolen from the crime scene
