Stepfather Arrested for Heinous Crime Against Minor

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State has made a shocking arrest of a 32-year-old commercial motorcyclist named Richard, who stands accused of sexually violating his 12-year-old stepdaughter.

Commandant Igbalawole Sotiyo of the Osun State NSCDC command confirmed the disturbing arrest in an official statement released on Thursday, November 27, 2025. The case has drawn widespread condemnation due to the severity of the abuse inflicted upon the young victim.

Gruesome Discovery and Medical Emergency

Medical examination revealed the presence of maggots in the victim's private parts, indicating severe infections that had developed over time. This horrifying discovery was made by the child's mother after she noticed a strong foul odor emanating from her daughter.

The victim has been rushed to a medical facility for comprehensive treatment following the traumatic ordeal. Medical professionals are working to address both the physical and psychological damage caused by the abuse.

Timeline of the Crime and Investigation

According to official records, the suspect was taken into custody on November 14, 2025, after his wife reported that her daughter had been sexually abused. Investigators quickly moved to apprehend Richard based on the serious nature of the allegations.

Commandant Sotiyo provided detailed background information about the case. "The wife told investigators that her daughter was staying with her husband's mother before the incident occurred," he stated. "During a visit to his mother's home, Richard reportedly inserted his fingers into the child's private parts."

The investigation uncovered additional disturbing details about the suspect's behavior prior to the assault. Richard had been seeking assistance from an herbalist concerning personal issues before allegedly committing the crime against his stepdaughter.

Family Background and Confession

The victim's mother disclosed that she had previously left the marriage due to experiencing physical abuse from Richard. However, she had left her daughter in the care of her husband's mother, believing the child would be safe.

"After relocating, she had requested to bring her daughter to live with her," Commandant Sotiyo explained. "The suspect promised to retrieve the child and on the very day the stepdaughter was brought to her mother's house, she was defiled by Richard."

During interrogation, Richard voluntarily confessed to committing the crime. In his statement, the suspect claimed that he had purchased a new motorcycle on installment that day and consumed alcohol, which he said influenced his actions.

Official Warning and Commitment to Justice

Commandant Igbalawole issued a strong warning to potential offenders, emphasizing that any individual preying on minors would face stringent legal consequences without any leniency.

The NSCDC leader reaffirmed the corps' commitment to ensuring that all criminals in Osun State are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. He stressed the organization's zero-tolerance policy toward crimes against children and vulnerable members of society.

This case has highlighted the ongoing need for vigilance in protecting children from sexual predators, particularly within family environments where trust is expected. The NSCDC continues to encourage community members to report any suspected cases of abuse to authorities promptly.
