Man Remanded for Stealing 22 Pants for Rituals in Adamawa

A 27-year-old man, Muktar Shehu, has been remanded at a correctional facility in Yola, Adamawa State, for allegedly stealing 22 pieces of a woman’s pants for ritual purposes. The remand order was issued by Chief Magistrate Court 3, presided over by Uwani Danladi, when the defendant was arraigned by the Adamawa State Police Command.

Details of the Alleged Offence

Muktar, a resident of Zango ward in Jimeta, Yola North LGA, was arraigned before the court by prosecutor Inspector Danjuma Hamidu. He faces charges of house trespass, theft, and criminal charm. The First Information Report tendered in court states that the defendant broke into the house of Halima Yakubu on 6th August 2026 and made away with the 22 pants and other clothes.

Defendant's Plea and Court Proceedings

During interrogation, the defendant reportedly confessed that he took the pants for ritual purposes. In court, he pleaded guilty to the charges, and the prosecutor applied to call a witness to corroborate the plea.
