Man Flees Hotel After Robbing Sex Worker in Makurdi, Benue State

A yet-to-be-identified man has allegedly robbed a sex worker of her belongings at a hotel in Makurdi, Benue State, according to a report shared by a local lecturer on social media. The incident, which occurred at a hotel in the area, involved the man fleeing with the woman's phone, handbag, Crocs shoes, and approximately N18,000 she had earned from her activities that day.

Details of the Robbery Incident

Comrade Abeen Mph, a Benue lecturer, recounted the story in a Facebook post, stating that he heard a commotion outside his hotel room window while preparing for lectures. Upon investigating, he found a young lady sitting outside, visibly distressed and barefooted, with only a pair of badly torn bathroom slippers left behind by the perpetrator.

The man had reportedly picked up the lady from Old School area late the previous night, around 11 p.m. to midnight, and brought her to the hotel. He told the hotel manager he was experiencing issues with his banking app, possibly due to daily limits or network problems, and pleaded for a room with a promise to pay before checkout.

Out of pity, the lady paid N5,000 for the room on his behalf, expecting to collect it back from him later. However, by morning, while she was still asleep, the man quietly took her expensive Crocs, handbag containing about N18,000, her phone, and the N5,000 she had paid for the room.

Escape and Aftermath

To make matters worse, the man asked the hotel manager for his phone under the pretense of making a quick call. Once outside, he rushed off, jumped on an Okada (motorcycle taxi), and disappeared, leaving the lady stranded without any money or footwear.

The lady was left lamenting how everything she had worked for the previous day had vanished overnight. She had to beg a passing Okada rider to help take her home. The manager, realizing what had happened, ran out to try and stop the bike, but it was too late.

In the end, the man not only avoided paying for the room and the services he received from the sex worker but also stole her money, phone, bag, shoes, and even the manager's phone. Comrade Abeen expressed concern over the troubling events in Makurdi, urging people to be more cautious.

This incident highlights the vulnerabilities faced by individuals in certain professions and serves as a reminder of the need for increased awareness and security measures in the community.
