Mother kills two children in murder-suicide after bar shooting

A mother fatally shot her two children in a murder-suicide after earlier shooting a woman who had been with her husband at a bar, according to police.

Bar Shooting

Andrea Clarice Davis, 38, drove to Tailgaters Sports Bar & Grill in Glendale just after midnight on Monday, May 25, and shot at her husband of 12 years, Nolan Davis, 39, and a 36-year-old woman he was with outside, police told AZFamily. The other woman, who has not been identified, was shot in the back of the head as she got into her car to flee, according to Glendale police spokesperson Jose Santiago.

Murder-Suicide at Home

Andrea Davis then drove home and texted her husband to say she was going to hurt their two young children. She also sent him a horrific image of one of them bleeding from the head, police said. The father told the officers at the scene of the bar shooting, who rushed to the couple's home in Phoenix, Arizona, about two miles away. There, officers found the bodies of the mother and her children: Austin, 10, and 18-month-old Andolan.

"Because we already knew this was a dire situation, officers forced their way into the home, and that's when they encountered this horrific situation," Santiago said.

Investigation

Deputies are still trying to piece together the full picture of Monday's shocking events. The second woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive. Police did not disclose her exact relationship with the killer's husband. "Right now, we can tell you they knew each other, but we do not know the extent of how they knew each other; that's all part of the investigation," Santiago said. "We do know that they were familiar with one another, and there was some type of relationship. How familiar and what type of relationship, that's unknown at this time."

However, the mother had been tormented by the belief her husband had been cheating on her with a co-worker, according to Andrea's best friend, Amy Bowers. "This relationship completely made her lose her mind," Bowers told AZFamily. "They haven't had anything like this come up before. And so I think the shock of that is just a lot for her. She was just, she was not feeling good. And she's been asking for help from everybody. Like it's not been secret," she added.

"I feel really bad nobody was thinking about the kids this whole time, you know, Andrea was stressed because Nolan was talking about leaving, and she was like, 'What am I supposed to do with the kids?'" Bowers said.

The bar shooting is being investigated by Glendale police, and the murder-suicide by Phoenix police. Neither department had prior involvement with the couple, who had no history of domestic violence, the reports said.
