Fresh Insecurity Wave Hits Nasarawa State Community
In a distressing escalation of violence, unidentified gunmen launched a brutal attack on Angwan Mada community in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The assault occurred on the night of Sunday, March 29, 2026, along Kwandare road, plunging residents into a state of terror and grief.
Tragic Loss of Life in Newly Built Home
The attackers claimed the life of one resident, Jonathan Audu, in a particularly cruel twist of fate. Audu had just moved into his newly constructed residential house mere hours before the assault, making this tragedy even more heartbreaking for his family and the community. The gunmen also abducted another resident, identified only as Bilyaminu, after firing shots indiscriminately throughout the area.
Ransom Demand and Community Fear
A community member who confirmed the incident described the assailants as heavily armed and well-organized. According to the source, the kidnappers have already contacted Bilyaminu's family, demanding a ransom of ten million naira for his safe release. This development has intensified the atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among residents, who now live in constant apprehension.
Pattern of Violence in Nasarawa State
This attack represents the latest in a series of security breaches plaguing Nasarawa State. Just one day prior to the Angwan Mada incident, gunmen targeted Kwarra community in Wamba Local Government Area, where they reportedly abducted three individuals. The consecutive nature of these assaults highlights the growing security challenges facing communities across the state.
Local authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the Angwan Mada attack, leaving residents concerned about their safety and the effectiveness of security measures in the region. The community remains on edge as they await developments in both the investigation and the ransom negotiations for the kidnapped resident.
