Mother's Harrowing Account

The victim, identified as Aisha, a 19-year-old mother, shared her traumatic experience with the Guardian newspaper on Monday, March 30. She described how the attackers invaded her room around 11:00 p.m. while she was asleep with her infant.

"I was asleep when I heard a loud knock on my door," Aisha recounted. "Before I could react, two hefty men forced their way in. One grabbed my neck and covered my mouth, while the other took my baby and ran away."

Aisha struggled to raise an alarm but was unable to get immediate help, as her husband was away in Lagos at the time. She expressed her anguish over the sudden and violent separation from her child.

Community and Police Response

Chief Abubakar Yusuf Mai Anguwa Baƙo, the community leader, confirmed the abduction to the publication. He stated that the incident has been officially reported to the police, who have initiated efforts to trace the suspects.

However, security operatives have faced challenges in their investigation. All attempts to locate the kidnappers have proven abortive, with no meaningful developments recorded so far. The suspects fled to an unidentified location, complicating the search.

Neighbour and Community Actions

A neighbour revealed that residents did not hear Aisha's cries until after the attackers had escaped. This delay in response highlights potential gaps in community vigilance during the late hours.

In response to the abduction, community members have conducted extensive searches in the area. Despite their efforts, they have yet to find any leads or clues that could point to the whereabouts of the newborn or the perpetrators.

The incident has left the local community in shock and fear, raising concerns about security in the region. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
