Newlywed woman remanded in Kano for killing husband over party

A Kano State Magistrate's Court has ordered the remand of a newlywed woman, Khadija Sa'idu, in a correctional facility on charges of culpable homicide following the death of her husband, Malam Auwal Adam. The decision was made after police arraigned the suspect for allegedly stabbing her husband in the chest and neck at his residence.

Disagreement over party attendance led to alleged attack

According to court documents, the incident stemmed from a disagreement between the couple. Khadija, a resident of Hayin Lawal, Rimin Kebe, in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state, had requested her husband's permission to attend a social gathering. When Malam Auwal Adam refused, an argument ensued.

Prosecutors alleged that following the dispute, the suspect stabbed her husband in the chest while he was asleep on a couch. The victim was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death from injuries sustained during the alleged attack.
