NSCDC arrests three for kidnapping, robbery in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the arrest of three individuals linked to a series of violent crimes, including kidnapping and robbery, across the state.

Details of the Arrests and Crimes

Parading the suspects at the corps' headquarters in Lafia, the State Commandant, Brah Samson Umoru, detailed the incidents. The information was relayed through the Command's Public Relations Officer, DSC Jerry Victor.

The first suspect, Muktar Shuaibu, 27, was apprehended in Kwandere village, Lafia Local Government Area. He is alleged to have been involved in kidnapping activities. Commandant Umoru explained that Shuaibu and an accomplice known as Ogobon, who remains at large, attacked an elderly Fulani man in Bassa village, Doma LGA, in an attempt to steal his motorcycle.

The victim was rescued by passers-by, which led to Shuaibu's capture. He has since been handed over to Operation Whirl Stroke of the Nigerian Army for further investigation and prosecution.

Other Apprehended Suspects

In a separate case, the command arrested Haruna Jibrin, 43, from Ungwan Liman, Lafia, on January 2, 2026. Jibrin is accused of robbery and the theft of tin ore minerals valued at over ₦3.5 million. Authorities state he is cooperating with investigators and has provided information expected to lead to the arrest of other gang members.

Furthermore, Dahiru Hussaini was apprehended for stealing two mobile phones and other valuables from his friend, Abdusamat Hussaini of Kauran Moyi, Lafia.

Command's Warning and Public Appeal

Commandant Umoru reiterated the corps' unwavering commitment to rid Nasarawa State of criminal elements. He issued a stern warning to those involved in illicit activities to desist or face the full wrath of the law.

He also called on members of the public to continue supporting the NSCDC with timely and credible information. This collaboration is deemed essential to enhance security across all 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State.

All suspects are to be charged to court for prosecution, a move intended to serve as a deterrent to others.
